Solar PV Feed In Tariff & EPC's
The FIT is due to be reduced again on July 1st 2012
From April 1st 2012 all FIT applications will require an EPC of Grade D or above.
The DECC have claimed that approximately 51% of domestic properties in the UK will already be at this level. It is also estimated that approximately 65% of all commercial properties may already pass into this band.
If a Solar PV installation is used to raise a property's EPC rating, it will need certifying for the EPC Grade D after the installation as the EPC has to be sent with the FIT application.
A Solar PV installation without a valid EPC of grade D or above will only qualify for the lower rate of FIT of 9p per kWh.
The current rate of FIT for a Solar PV installation is 21p per kWh - that is for every unit of electricity generated by the PV system you get paid 21pence (whether it is used in the property or not) with a 4kW system generating up to 3,400 units per year this returns over £700 in FIT payments.
